Separation of Church and Brain
On Liz Spikol's most recent column:
When I first learned about the Church of Scientology, back in the
'60s, I learned how anti-psychiatry they were and how deeply committed
they were to spreading anti-psychiatric propaganda.
The legal requirements to become a religion in this country are so
loose that nearly any group, no matter how bizarre their beliefs and
teachings, no matter how damaging they are to the mental health (and
sometimes the physical health) of their followers, no matter how
misleading their propaganda is, they can call themselves a religion
and not pay taxes.
It seems that the only recourse we have is knowledge, and your article
"Wrong Answers" is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
